* Note : This event type is only available on the unlimited events plan. *
Recurring events allow you to sell tickets to an event that repeats without needing to create multiple events for each day your event runs on. With one event you can now create a schedule for any day and have it repeat across multiple days, weeks, or months until a set date or indefinitely. They also give your customers a fast, and easy way to select which day they would like to attend your event with a new calendar date picker on the storefront. This guide will show you how to create your first recurring event.
We start by click on "Create Event" in the upper right hand corner of the app and when selecting a type of event choose "Recurring Event". This will give us a message that we can set up the schedule for our event after clicking save, so we'll go ahead and fill out the rest of the basic information for our event then click save.
Once we click save and the page reloads we'll be presented with a blank calendar. This calendar is used to create the schedule for our event and we can start creating that by clicking on any empty space on the date we would like the event to start. First we're going to create all the ticket types we want to have available during all of the scheduled event times.
Once we choose our start date we'll be presented with a pop up to set up our schedule. Once we choose a day to start our event we can set that schedule for just one day or it can be repeated daily, weekly or monthly. We'll fill out some basic info such as start time and end time for that event instance and when we get to the "Recurring event ends" we can choose a date to stop the event from repeating or choose never if we want it to run indefinitely. For example if we wanted an event to run daily for the entire month of May we would start our schedule on May 1st, and then for "Recurring event ends" we would fill-out May 31st and click save.
Once the page reloads we'll see the schedule has now been updated to show in the calendar with the internal name you provided it and highlighted across all the days it's repeating. We can also choose to edit that schedule at any time for all instances, and individually manage the available tickets for any single instance by clicking on any date.
We may also want to add additional schedules to our event and do that we can once again click on any empty space we want our new schedule start and fill out the information for that new schedule. Here I wanted to add some evening passes for my event, and then I also needed afternoon passes so I created a schedule for that and this is what the calendar looked like after, allowing me to see a quick glance of all days included in any of the schedules and click on any to see all of the schedules available for that day.
Now our event is ready to sell, but what does that look like for our customers? We wanted to make that as easy and simple for the customers as it was creating the event itself. When customers come to your store they'll get the option to buy tickets using a date picker, and to make it simpler to find a time that works we've added quick ways to see what times are sold out for that ticket type. You can customize this date picker from the "Storefront Integrations" in "Settings" as well as disable the integration.
** The storefront schedule is a theme integration and all themes are different so if you notice any issues please let us know and we'll make sure it works for your theme. **
That's a basic overview of recurring events, and as it's a new feature we would love to hear any feedback, and if you have any questions please let us know our team is here and happy to help.
